McLeodganj is a hill station near Dharamshala in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh state. McLeodganj is named after Sir Donald Freel McLeod, who was the Lieutenant Governor of Punjab. Jwalamukhi Devi Temple Dharamshala –
It is said that when many evil spirits came here and disturbed the gods, at the behest of Bhagwan Shiva, the gods decided to destroy them and many gods concentrated their power and there a huge flame arose from the earth. A girl was born from this flame, now known as Sita or Parvati. Sati’s tongue fell into Jwalaji, about 610 meters above sea level, and the goddess appeared as a small flame. The Pandavas are also believed to have visited this holy place.
ज्वालामुखी देवी मंदिर धर्मशाला –
बताया जाता है कि जब बहुत बुरी आत्माए यहाँ पर आती थी और देवताओं को परेशान करती थी तो भागवान शिव के कहने पर देवताओं ने उन्हें नष्ट करने का फैसला लिया और कई देवताओं ने अपनी शक्ति केद्रित की और वहां पृथ्वी से एक विशाल ज्वाला उत्पन्न हुई। इस ज्वाला से एक लड़की ने जन्म लिया, जिसे अब सीता या पार्वती के नाम से जाना जाता है। सती की जीभ समुद्र तल से लगभग 610 मीटर ऊपर ज्वालाजी में गिरी थी और देवी उस छोटी ज्वाला के रूप में प्रकट हुई थी। माना जाता है कि पांडवों भी इस पवित्र स्थान पर आये थे।
